Az and I did a last minute reservation at the Pulau Ubin chalet of Marina Country Club last Sunday, for today. So, we both met at my place to buy some food before taking a cab ride down to Punggol Marina.

Checked in and paid, then went down to Pier 4 to wait for our boat trip to Ubin. We were gazing in the water, and I spotted quite a few things which were novel to me: needle fish, archer fish, jellyfish and a baby cuttlefish which was hunting a small school of fish.

The jellyfish were so cute! They floated past and below us on the floating pier, an inch or two below the surface of the water. And many of them had "sizzles" of light sporadically going across their caps. Was so cute! XD

And the baby cuttlefish was only maybe about an inch long. It stalked a school of small fish also, darted forward, and caught one. I saw it eating the fish. Like...whoa.

The boat trip to Ubin took 30 minutes. Upon nearing, we saw what I suspect is a pair bond of kites hunting small birds in the air. A few minutes later, another kite appeared and performed aerial acrobatics with amazing agility before descending to the trees. Like whoa.

Reached the chalets. Checked in. Had a quick but messy breakfast of instant noodles (cooked in a kettle), before heading out. We'd originally wanted to do archery and rock-climbing, but both activities were unavailable, so we decided to take a long walk around Ubin. Saw a small tree frog and many butterflies. =)

Went back to our rooms at around 2pm, showered, and napped. Woke up around 4-plus, talked a bit, snuggled, and enjoyed each other's company before exploring the chalet at around 5-plus and then taking our boat back at 6pm.

On our way back, we saw three kites soaring at the same area we saw them when we reached. And oh, we saw a needle fish skimming over the water like a dolphin does. =)

Both of us felt very at peace today, going to Ubin and spending time together. It's reminiscent of the time we went to Cameron Highlands in Malaysia...the relaxing and flexible times; spending quality time in each other's company; gentle touches; holding hands; strolling along; laughing and joking...

When we took the boat back to the mainland, we both felt...sad. While the time spent at Ubin was relaxing and destressing, and we agreed we had desperately needed this away from people...experiencing this peace, then suddenly having it taken away again by returning to the mainland left a large hole in both of us...especially me.

While many other Singaporeans might love the city life, I'm one who loves nature. I'm one who prefers working alone, or with a selected few, away from the throngs of humans. I wouldn't mind it one bit if I could live in the decrepit houses there, drive around on old scooters, and sell coconuts for a living. I really wouldn't mind it one bit.

Az feels the same way (well...minus the selling coconuts part). And...we're both looking through information on whether we can get a house/land there at a cheap price...or something...
